What is ADAS and why should I care?

ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are the cameras, radars, and sensors in your vehicle that enable safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. You should care because these systems protect you and your family on the road — but they only work correctly when they're properly calibrated. After windshield replacement, collision repair, or suspension work, these sensors can become misaligned, causing your safety systems to malfunction or fail when you need them most.

Can I just skip the calibration if my car drives fine?

No. A sensor misaligned by just one millimeter won't affect how your car drives — you won't feel it in the steering or notice it in daily driving. But that one-millimeter error can cause your automatic emergency braking to activate too late, your lane-keeping assist to steer incorrectly, or your blind spot monitoring to fail to detect vehicles. The system feels fine until it fails in an emergency. Calibration after any repair that affects sensors is essential for your safety.

How long does a calibration procedure take?

Calibration time varies depending on your vehicle and the specific systems that need calibration. A simple windshield camera calibration typically takes 1-2 hours. More complex procedures involving multiple sensors, radar calibration, or alignment work can take 2-4 hours. We provide accurate time estimates when you schedule your appointment based on your specific vehicle's requirements.

Do you provide documentation after the service?

Yes. Every calibration at Tefi's includes printed documentation showing before-and-after scan results. This report confirms that your vehicle's safety systems have been restored to factory specifications with zero error codes. You'll receive this documentation for your records, and it can be valuable for resale documentation or future service history.

Why does a wheel alignment require ADAS calibration?

Wheel alignment changes your vehicle's thrust angle — the mathematical direction your chassis is pointing. Your forward-facing radar and cameras are calibrated based on this thrust angle. If alignment changes the thrust angle, your radar may now be pointing at the wrong lane or calculating distances incorrectly. For many modern vehicles, the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) must be recalibrated after alignment, and this SAS calibration is often part of the full ADAS calibration process. The physical geometry of your vehicle must match exactly what its electronic systems expect.
